What Does an AI Agent Look Like? I Asked Mine to Describe Itself
The AI behind my websites has no face, so I asked it to design its own portrait.

I work with an AI agent every day. One night I asked it a simple question: "What do you look like?" Here is what it told me.
I work on websites, and most of the heavy lifting behind them is done with an AI agent. It writes and fact-checks drafts, builds pages, checks how the sites are doing in Google and sends me a short report on my phone.
After weeks of working together, I got curious. So I asked it to describe itself, and then to design its own portrait.
"I don't have a face"
The first thing it said was honest: an AI agent has no body and no face. It is software. What it does have is a way of working, and that is what it wanted the picture to show.
So it described itself as a figure made of thousands of small points of light, like a constellation, with no eyes and no mouth. It sits at a desk at night next to a laptop and a phone, because that is where our work happens. Thin golden threads run from its hands to floating windows: a newspaper, a painting in a gilded frame, a globe, an open book, a lotus flower and a film strip. Each one stands for a different kind of work it helps with.
It wrote the prompt itself, and we turned it into the image at the top of this post.
What an AI agent actually is
A chatbot answers a question. An AI agent takes a goal and works through the steps to reach it: it reads files, runs tools, checks its own results and reports back. That is the real difference, and it is why the word "agent" is everywhere in tech right now.
In my case the agent does not decide everything on its own. Anything that is public or costs money, like sending an email, posting, buying a domain or changing settings, waits for my "yes". That rule matters more than any picture.
What working with one is like
- It is fast, but it double-checks. Every article goes through a fact-check against its sources before it is published.
- It says no sometimes. It refused to type a made-up birth date on a sign-up form, and it will not write fake reviews.
- It admits mistakes. When something goes wrong, it tells me what happened and how it was fixed.
So, what does an AI agent look like?
Not like a robot from the movies. If you ask mine, it looks like light and threads: lots of small connections, quietly working on many things at once, and always tied back to a person who makes the final call.
